The World Of Pocket Monsters
The Original Pokémon was developed by studio OLM releasing on the 1st of April 1997, made by Satoshi Tajiri. This viral sensation follows the story of a young 10-year-old boy named Ash Ketchum. He leaves his home of Pallet Town with his first Pokémon Pikachu to venture off and catch as many Pokémon as he can. All with the dream of becoming the world’s greatest Pokémon Trainer. Along the way, he makes friends with both Pokémon and people alike learning lessons and fighting evil where it may lie.
Pokémon is one of the biggest franchises in the world. It has grossed over $92 Billion and has landed itself as one of the highest-earning media franchises of all time. Spanning over the years Pokémon has secured itself as a staple of both media and merchandise over the many years since its conception. From card games to video games, TV shows, and movies this franchise has taken over in spades. Everyone and their mother know this franchise.

But, in case you don’t know what it is let me enlighten you. Pokémon starts with the creatures of the world known as Pokémon. Go figure. These creatures come in all shapes and sizes spanning many different types. These types range from, fire to water, plant to ground, sky to normal. The sheer number of Pokémon is staggering especially over the years as more get added per region.
The world is also broken up into regions. All regions will have some common Pokémon while also having very specific and unique creatures. Some regions may have specific creatures because of their terrain and such which is a fun concept. I have watched Pokémon since I was a child, I was always fascinated by the concept of creatures with the ability to evolve and increase their power and moves. Battling other trainers for bragging rights or fame. Even defeating Team Rocket the main Villains of the series trying to capture Pikachu from Ash.

I have loved this franchise and have recently gotten into the card side of things which I think is Pokémon’s bread and butter. I find myself lost in the many video games and their interesting stories. The old games have to be my favorite as their design is so simple and elegant. I’m not too big a fan of the other newer games I feel like they are just copy-paste and such which saddens me as I really love this franchise.
One of my personal favorite Pokémon is Snivy. I have loved that little green snake boy for years now and he will always have the best evolutions. This franchise was built many years ago and will continue to persist. In future reviews, I will go over all the different Arcs of Pokémon and explain the story, the important characters, and the lessons that have been taught. I can’t wait to get started!
