The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio:

Voice Actor Radio

The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio aired in April of 2024 and was produced by studio Connect. It was adapted from the original manga works created by Nigatsu, Kou. The story follows two high school girls, Yumiko Satou and Chika Watanabe. Both these girls are classmates and professional voice actors. Their lives collide when they are tasked with making a radio show as their far more friendly and cute alter egos. They twist being that they actually don’t like each other. Watch their story as they grow and become closer to take over the Voice Acting industry.

Voice Actor Radio was a good fun one for me. However, keep in mind I only watched the first two episodes before seeing the central theme and hidden message behind this show so I will only be talking about the first two episodes. So, keep in mind any twists or turns that happen later on I have no clue on and I shall keep it that way.

Voice Actor Radio With Personality

Voice Actor Radio

Now surface level inspection first I must say this is very well done. Then animation quality and the voice acting alone is some of the best I’ve heard. Definitely up there with Fire Force and My Hero Academia. The show has some great personality going with a nice unique premise. If we compare this show to Jellyfish, which I have reviewed to death at this point, it similar in premise. However, its difference comes in the idea the two are working together under obligation. Not by choice as it comes out, they really don’t like each other. But they have to fake it till they make it.

And this is a wonderful premise. The number of times I view characters getting together to develop a dream and work perfectly in harmony with no conflict is boring. I like that they’re at each other’s throats. They should be honestly. They work together sure but even celebrities in the real world hate each other but still work together. That’s just how film and such work.

The FUN of Inconsistency

Voice Actor Radio

My gripe comes when they didn’t lean into the whole disliking each other thing. Seriously they were sitting on a gold mine and yet at the end of episode two they agree to work properly together and start anew. Like why! The formula was perfect! Why change it? I shake my head and that’s another reason why I don’t want to watch anymore.

Sure, they will still fight but I liked the aspect of distain against each other. It gave them flavor and flare. And now they’re just another idol character in another idol anime. It’s really hard to get anymore more than that out of this anime. But I understand why, it wants to focus on the theme of personal growth in the face of momentous challenges. And sure, they can do that, I just feel the added hostility was a great plot point that vanished too quickly.

These are just my personal issues with Voice Actor Radio that I can point out. It’s not a bad show mind you I just feel like it had a great premise it dropped too quickly.
