Raising Kids in Another World: It’s Just Fun Man

A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring/Raising Kids in Another World was created by studio EMT Squared in July of 2024. The original series was adapted from the manga of the same name created by Shizuru Minazuki. The story follows our main protagonist Takumi Kayano who finds himself being transported into a fantasy land after his life on earth was ended prematurely. Within the first few hours, he finds two twins wandering in the forest. They appear to be around five years old. Taking them under his wing he quickly realizes these children are far stronger than he is in terms of his powers and physical skill. Their story follows them making their way through this strange world together as a family of sorts.

Raising Kids in Another World

This is a very cute anime. I mean extremely cute. It has similar styles to many of the copy-and-paste isekai that’s out nowadays. And that’s fine honestly, what makes this anime fun is its approach to family-friendly content. In isekai we often see the magic taking center stage, or the overpowered protagonist fighting a hidden evil. This is just, a man who adopts two kids and takes them adventuring. It’s honestly really fun.

I enjoy a good anime with a simple presence and this follows the traditional idea of an overpowered isekai protagonist. It happens so often that at this point, I barely bat an eye. Though it constitutes what gamers call a power fantasy I can’t complain. Watching the things the protagonists get up to is fun and endearing. I enjoy it when the small things add up to make something meaningful. Something as simple as baking takes a whole chunk out of the episode and yet it feels like it belongs quite well.

Raising Kids in Another World

I do have one gripe though with Raising Kids in Another World. The situations are rather random. It feels less like a story and more like a showcase of cute things. And I bet some are in the comments like “But what about Food Wars! That’s just lots of cooking.” Sure, it is lots of cooking but towards a goal and a story behind it. In one episode of Raising Kids in Another World, they enter a labyrinth. With no other reason than they can. I understand these kids are strong but the guy just became their legal guardian at least practice some safe parenting!

I digress. This is a short one today. I thoroughly enjoy the things these kids get up to and it feels right more often than not. It would help if the story was more apparent within the first few episodes but who knows, maybe the rest will surprise us.
